I tell myself I can’t be the only one who does this. When I have small ends of yarn, or in this case tulle, I have a need to use them up. I have what I call a “scrapghan” that I am gradually adding to as I end up with bits of yarn long enough for a row or two but not much good for anything else. With cotton I make sponges or multi-colored dish cloths. And here I am cobbling together a scrubbie.
Except for the scrapghan, I generally only do this for utilitarian projects, but it makes me feel good to not waste. Even if the end result is sort of odd looking. I’ve used scraps of yarn for other things as well. Tying up plants in the garden was my most recent use, although they also make a nice ribbon stand-in on a present.
One of the only things I don’t like about weaving is the so-called “loom waste,” all the thread that gets leftover. I have been saving these (sometimes long) pieces of yarn and thread, waiting for an inspiration of what to do with them–they have added up very quickly!
When inspiration hits, at least you will have them. Have you considered putting tassels on everything in your house? 🙂
