Thank you all for the kind words and thoughts over the past days. I had to step out of routine life for a while but am starting to resurface.
I have to admit, there were several days last week when I did not work on any creative projects at all. It is probably a time when it would have helped the most, but I’m giving myself a pass. This week I got back into it and pushed through to finish the hospice afghan I’d been working through.
The weather has turned decidedly spring-like, and I knew that once it got too warm, the idea of an afghan-in-progress on my lap would not be appealing. The body of the afghan turned out smaller than I anticipated, so I had to make up the difference with the border.
Many, many thanks to Simply Hooked for introducing me to this stitch. Because it is a dense stitch, I went up to a K/6.5 hook, and it is still nice and thick and cozy without being too heavy. Β I even have enough yarn left over for a second afghan, but may watch the weather before I decide to start.
Welcome back!
Thank you! It’s nice to be getting back to normal life.
It looks really warm and very pretty. Crochet is a real help when times get tough. Nice to have you back.π
Thank you! I really love the tweedy look of it, and it felt good to pick up the hook again.
The border is a nice finishing touch. Glad that you are back to crafting.
The border embodies one of my favorite craft mottos “It’s not a mistake, it’s a design element.” π
A Beautiful Blanket! Good to see you back π
Glad to be back! I’m happy with how it turned out, hopefully it will be a comfort to whomever gets it.
So happy to see you back. My thoughts and prayers continue to be with you and yours. I love how your Afghan turned out.
Thank you. I know you know all too well how tough it can be to adjust to the loss. Even though we knew this was eventually coming, there is still an emptiness. I’m glad I was able to finish this now since it will be donated to a hospice program.
What a good project to come back to–it must’ve felt so appropriate to make something to help another person going through a rough time.
It did indeed. This past year has renewed my resolve to make more charity pieces.
Lovely work, and for such a good cause.
It may be my new favorite stitch.
Welcome back!!! That stitch is one of my favorite too simple but regal looking… Nice colors too π
Thank you, and I really love that you can carry the yarn up the sides so you get stripes without all of those pesky ends to weave in.
lol so true, i don’t like all that weaving π
