At crochet class we made additional squares for the blanket that will be donated. This time it was the box car stitch. I learned this stitch several years ago when I was just starting to crochet but have not made it since. I remember not liking the look of it when I first did it, but I believe that was because I was still stumbling my way through patterns. This time I enjoyed it, and felt it looked more like what it was supposed to.
Earlier in the day I picked up the fused glass plate which was all fired and ready. I am so happy that the pieces of glass maintained enough of their shape and did not turn into red blobs. I like the softness the firing produces and am looking forward to doing this again.
Your plate is just lovely. You must be so chuffed with it.
I am. It was hard to walk away from it for a week while it was fired not knowing how it would turn out. But worth the wait.
Your stitches are lovely and that plate is stunning. WOW
Thanks! It does give me the “I can’t believe I actually made this” feeling.
Wow, I love your plate!
Thanks, me too. 🙂 It turned out just as I hoped.
Your plate is beautiful 🙂 I never heard of the box car stitch! It looks fantastic!
The stitch is similar to a granny square stitch except you do the double crochets in a row rather than in a clump. (If that makes sense)
🙂
Wow. Your plate came out so cool. My brother recently took a glass class and loved it. It’s definitely on the bucket list.
If you get a chance, do it. My next bucket list item is trying a glass blowing workshop. That kind of scares me a little.
I can’t say that I blame you. Seems like there’s a ton that could go wrong and a bunch of ways to get hurt. I’m pretty accident prone myself so I could see something like that happening to me. I still want to try it though.
