I tried a different pattern to make a snowflake candle mat. This one seems much more snowflake-y to me. The pattern comes from The Hooked Haberdasher which is chock full of patterns and tutorials.
The original pattern was designed to make a tealight cozy, but I did not have white yarn in the right gauge. I used worsted weight cotton and G hook hoping it would end up about the right size for a small candle holder—a bit larger than a tealight, but not so large the glass holder didn’t fit snugly—and it did.
I blocked this to get it into the right shape to see how it turned out, but I think I will use something to stiffen it, at least on the snowflake part, for future ones if I am giving them as gifts.
A lovely snowflake. Well done..
Much better than a starfish.
This is so nice! You finished that quickly! 🙂
The base was only 4 rounds, so it worked up in no time at all.
Wonderful for gifts.
I’m planning on making these for neighbor gifts this year.
Oh that is cute.
I like it too. I thnik it will look good with a red votive in the center.
I think they are so cute, it will be perfect for a Christmas table 🙂
I may do a few of them to use as a centerpiece.
perfect!!
