I started hat number 2 using the green tweed yarn. I’ve been wanting to try this type of hat pattern for a while because it does not require a join on each row while you are working on it. I used several online instructions to decide on what to do: Chain 45, single crochet back loops only until the rectangle is about 18 inches. I’ve made a fleece hat using this same idea, so even though it looks nothing like a hat now, I am certain it will end up being one.
I am at that point where it doesn’t seem like it is getting any bigger, and single crochet does take a while to build up into any kind of height, but I don’t mind because it is so easy to just crochet row after row.
I look forward to seeing which method you prefer! Sounds crazy, but I do find it to be relaxing or meditative while stitching along as this one calls for. 🙂
It doesn’t sound crazy. I fell the same way.I wouldn’t want to do this every time I crochet, but it is nice to have it in the mix.
It’s looking good. I have tried a pattern similar to this without success. There’s a reason why I mostly knit.
I prefer the look of knit hats, but have never learned how to knit. 🙂
Good luck this looks intriguing.
Fingers crossed that it works out in the end!
