Not many rows were made this weekend, but a few were done at the beginning and the end of two whirlwind days. It used to be that I had no time during the week, and made all my progress on the weekends. Since I’ve been out of work, the opposite is true, but I won’t complain about busy weekends. We had an impromptu party at our house on Sunday. The Philadelphia German-American parade moved this year to my little town on the outskirts of the city, and we made some calls and sent some texts inviting people to stop by afterward for bratwurst and sauerkraut.

I also took some time to cook down and freeze what is probably one of the last batches of tomatoes from the back garden. You just can’t find tomatoes this color in the grocery store, and I have stopped buying them, preferring to only enjoy tomatoes in season when I can pick them ruby red, sweet and juicy. Someday I may try to learn to can them, but for now, a shelf in my freezer holds this summer’s crop, ready to be thawed out and enjoyed when winter is in full force.
