I’ve been seeing a lot of tutorials lately about different methods for printing on fabric using your home printer. I thought I’d give it a try, but couldn’t think of anything I could do with photograph printed on fabric.
I decided to start with words. This is the first verse of a hymn I grew up singing. Even now, when I’m going through an anxious time, I find myself humming it. There is something very soothing about the phrase “It is well with my soul”.
Printing was successful, and I first thought I’d try doing some simple embroidery over the letters. The look was not turning out how I was picturing it, so after a line or two, I printed up a second copy and decided to make it into a small pillow. A few straight seams and a little wrestling with a pillow form later and it was finished.
I used some spray mount to attach the fabric to a piece of card stock, trimmed it to size and ran it through the rear, pop-up feed tray in the printer. It peeled off easily and because I sprayed the card stock and not the fabric, there was no sticky residue on it.
Reblogged this on Thing-A-Day Lives.
I love printing on fabric–you can also use freezer paper and just iron the fabric on the shiny side. It’ll stick just enough to go through the printer and then peel off easily.
